My ICT supplier above all, saves me time

Via Teams we speak with naval architect Mark Visser at SARC. The company makes software and calculation programs for the maritime industry. Among others shipyards, shipping companies and the navy are among their customers. Their software is also used on board (commercial) cargo ships, the larger luxury yachts and navy stability monitoring vessels. Mark himself is well aware of the possibilities in the IT field, he explains why it is nice to have an ICT partner to have.

Personal connection and a fixed Point

hallo, (formerly IT Support Group) has been our ICT partner for a long time. I knew Kevin worked from his previous job, the personal connection and a fixed point of contact good. When he made the switch to hallo, and we didn't decide everything anymore to do our own management is where it start rolling the ball. "The work for our customers and the ships became increasingly complex and that took me more and more time. I did the ICT "on the side", while I no longer have the time had to do it right. It is very nice for me that I have for this knowledge and work at Kevin and his colleagues. The developments on ICT areas go fast, nice that I don't have to update everything in detail myself hold. That does hallo, for me."

Every Friday with backup hard disk cycling home

We still worked in a traditional way with everything on location. With only one traditional backup is of course at risk. Every Friday the hard disk with back-up on the back of the bike to take home. Of course, that could be better and easier be arranged. In connection with the confidentiality of the data that SARC works with, opted for an on-site file server that is backed up several times a day Makes. This file server is backed up again in the cloud. "Safer solution than on the back of my bike". "IT Support Groep thinks along and goes the extra mile to get our data right they protect it so that everything is properly boarded up. The interior with the firewall really requires specific knowledge, you need a specialist for that."

Relocation: within a morning up and running again.

"We recently moved to a new building. IT Support Group has (WiFi) network and the server cabinets on location refurbished. Together we have set up the workplaces. Our colleagues have noticed little of it, within half a day we were up and running again."

Planning for the future

At the moment we do not yet work in the cloud. There are agreements with IT Support Group to move to the cloud with Office 365 and Exchange Online. At the same time, we are going to replace all the hardware in the workplaces with laptops with a docking station, so that people can work even more flexibly. This will happen in Q1 2022. We also want to use Teams for both internal and external communication. Working from home is now done via a VPN connection, useful if we will soon have everything in the cloud and that we have the knowledge of our ICT partner for the design of this can use."

Results of the cooperation

• Secure VPN connection • Secure backup in the cloud • Better firewall protection • Time savings by outsourcing ICT matters • Working from home well and safely arranged • Virtualization of the various servers (mail, file, cloud, backup)
